  • Melanie P. says: I will be pcsing there in June so i can't tell you anything from experience but I have asked the same question and the answeres are all the same..."it's what you make of it" we had the choice too and chose it not because of the base but because of the sorroundings....the drive to Hilton Head SC is not far at all and Florida is not more than 4 to 6 hours depending on where...and since we have a kid we loved the idea of being close to beaches and Sea World and such...but I have heard some bad as well. I guess it really is what you make of it.....also there is a page you can get on that has some off base houses for rent or sale that run through housing just to get an idea of where your bah would be and what you would be looking at...I personaly am more for moving on base but that is because I have lived in a small town in Germany for the majority of my life and I would just feel safer on base...but like I said research the areas and as long as you get away from the base as much as possible i think it will be a lot better then ppl say.

We love it it is very close to my hometown so that may have something to do with it :) We love the post itself and my husband likes the way things work around there. It is very nice and a good size as well there are lots of great options for on post housing as well as off and the post offers lots of things to do.
